Yoga

Yoga translated from the Sanskriet means "unite" and "master".
Yoga is in its broad context a hinduïstic philosophy which learns
the spirit  to feel and master the body and reach a connection
with god. In a more everyday, Western form of yoga, we speak of
"hatha yoga". This is a type of yoga that exists from a system of
exercises to obtain control of the spirit and especially the body.
In the west, the practice of yoga had been just getting its attention
since second half of the twentieth century, where it has generally
been used as an experience to benefit from the relaxing exercises
from the hatha yoga and to get wrid of tension build up by a
rushing lifestyle. The main form of physical yoga is the hatha yoga
wich had been documented for the first time in the Hatha yoga
Pradipika in the 15e century B.C. In the west yoga is considered as
favorable for health and is frequently practised without religious
intentions. Hatha yoga exist mainly from asana's (body postures)
and pranayama's (breathing techniques). The hatha yoga is the
base for many other, further developed types physical yoga.

Ashtanga vinyasa yoga and then the further developed
poweryoga are also physical yoga exaples, where several body
positions follow each other in a yoga serial. This is also called a
yoga flow. These yoga forms ask more strength, endurance and
assessment. Other types of yoga with the base of hatha yoga are:
Iyengar yoga, sivananda yoga, anusara yoga and pilates.

Natya yoga is a yoga type which is carried out in a dancing way
and is for this reason called dancing yoga.

Chakra yoga is a spiritual approach of the energy fields in the
body, called chakra's. According to this philosophy each human
body knows seven so-called physical energy wheels. These wheels
would turn around in a fast tempo and let the life energy of the
body flow.

Yoga nidra (sleep of the yogi's') is a mental preparation to the
practice of yoga and yoga method in itself. Tantra's are mystic
sayings which determine components of the tantra yoga, also
tantric yoga. The mantra yoga is based on mystic sayings and
vibrations, called mantra's.

Kundalini yoga is based on achieving mental strength or divine
strength in the body (snake strength: kundalini) to awake and
realise the spirit. This method tempts to control the automatic
body processes.

Dru yoga (complete integration of yoga, health and
inner strength)
boeddhi yoga (way of intelligence)
kriya yoga (the way of the operation)
natya yoga (the way of bhakti yoga hatha yoga by using dance)
sahaja yoga (worldwide yoga organisation, relates to the shaktism,
with an emphasis on kundalini)

The word yoga discribes a state of being, where the physical
human body is connected to its spiritual being. A situation in wich
the perceptible self is linked with substantial self, i.e. where people
find their true natural state in agreement with their way of living.
